Avlabari is one of Tbilisi’s oldest central areas, set on the left bank of the Mtkvari River directly across from the Old Town. It is practical for short stays because Avlabari Metro is about 1 minute on foot from the building, with quick access to Freedom Square, Rustaveli and Station Square.

The area was once known as part of the city’s Armenian quarter, and today it mixes old residential streets, churches, small shops and open views across the river. Sameba Cathedral, one of the city’s main landmarks, is about 10 to 12 minutes on foot, while the Mimino statue is about 2 minutes away by Avlabari Square.

For sightseeing, Metekhi Church and the statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali are about 8 to 10 minutes on foot. Rike Park is around 8 to 10 minutes away, with access to the Bridge of Peace, the cable car to Narikala and green space by the river. From there, guests can cross into the Old Town for Sioni Cathedral, Erekle II Street and the sulphur bath district.

Food options are simple and local around Avlabari. Khinkali House Avlabari on Meskhishvili Street is about 3 minutes away, while Old Metekhi restaurant near Metekhi Rise is about 8 to 10 minutes away and works well for Georgian food with river views. For more bars and late-night options, Old Town is a short walk across Metekhi Bridge.

Avlabari is safe and well-patrolled, especially around the metro, main roads and tourist routes. It is quieter than the Old Town at night but still close enough for easy walking access.

Avlabari Metro is about 1 minute on foot from the building, so moving around Tbilisi is easy without a car.

The metro is the fastest way to reach Freedom Square, Rustaveli Avenue, Station Square and other central areas. Buses and Bolt/taxi apps are also widely available and inexpensive.
