Batumi: what to know in summer
The beach, the boulevard, Old Batumi, the Botanical Garden and the places worth seeing while you are in the city.
Batumi is especially busy in summer, but there is more to the city than the sea and the beach. The coastline is pebbly, while most of the city's main sights and interesting spots are within walking distance of each other.
Take an evening walk along Batumi Boulevard, which stretches for several kilometres along the coast and is one of the city's main places for a stroll. Along the way, you will see the Alphabet Tower and the moving Ali and Nino sculpture.
Old Batumi is the best area for cafés and restaurants, particularly the streets around Europe Square and Piazza Square.
On hot days, head to the Batumi Botanical Garden, north of the city at Mtsvane Kontskhi. Set on a hillside overlooking the sea, it is known for its wide variety of plants and cooler surroundings.
And, of course, there is Adjarian khachapuri: a boat-shaped bread filled with egg and butter. It is one of Batumi's signature local dishes and is easy to share.
