Moving a flat between short-term and long-term stays

You don't have to choose once. How owners move an apartment from one to the other, and what to plan for when they do.

Our earlier piece asked which suits your apartment better, short-term or long-term stays. For a lot of owners the practical answer is both, at different times of the year.

A pattern that works for many flats is seasonal: short-term stays through the busy months, then a tenant for the quieter stretch. The switch has to be planned around bookings that already exist, so start with the calendar.

Going from short-term to long-term takes longest. Open bookings have to finish or move, the listing comes off every channel at once, and a flat furnished for guests usually needs more storage and less decoration before someone can live in it.

Going back is quicker, but not instant. After a long tenancy the flat needs a deep clean, fresh linen, often a coat of paint and new photographs, and the listing takes a few weeks to win back its place in search.

At wehost both run from one calendar, so a lease blocks its months on every channel and short-term stays fill the rest. Tell us the months you have in mind and we will show you what each option looks like.
