Tbilisi: what to see in two days

Two days, mostly on foot: the baths, the fortress, the old streets and a flea market by the Dry Bridge.

Tbilisi is best explored on foot, and two days are enough to see the city's main sights. Wear comfortable shoes: the old centre is full of hills and cobbled streets.

Start in Old Tbilisi and Abanotubani, home to the city's Sulfur baths beneath distinctive brick domes. From there, you can walk up to Narikala Fortress or take the cable car from Rike Park and walk back down through the old streets.

Spend the afternoon in Sololaki. Many of its old houses still have painted entrance halls, wooden balconies and inner courtyards that are easy to miss from the street.

The next morning, visit the Dry Bridge Market, where you can find old objects, cameras, paintings and other interesting finds. The market is busiest at weekends.

In the evening, head to Fabrika, a former sewing factory that is now home to bars and cafés. For dinner, take a walk along nearby Aghmashenebeli Avenue.

If you have time, take the funicular up to Mtatsminda. The city views are particularly beautiful in the evening.
